travel anecdotes: Jonathan

My two favorite moments from traveling to Kansas last Thursday were courtesy of Jono.

1. He did great on takeoff, but was bothered by the pressure in his ears on descent into Kansas City. He started batting at his ears and complaining that they hurt. David told him to suck his paci, but he still complained. Then David said, "Have a drink. It'll help," and handed him his sippy cup. Jono, confused, put the spout of his sippy in his ear.

2. Despite popular insistence that Kansas is "flatter than a pancake" there are some pretty sizable hills on the drive west on I-70 from Kansas City to the farm. The first time a big hill loomed up beside us, Jono said, "Woah! What's that?" Is that a boy who has spent his entire life in the coastal plains, or what?!

Ah, I love these stories. Life thru the eyes and mind of a 2 year old is always fresh, never boring, with endless possibilities.

As the owner of cranky ears, I've tried multiple solutions, but never thought about wetting them down with a sippy cup. I'll keep that one in mind. ;)

Jono would be in awe of some real mountains. lol
