Hazel Update

Erin and I visited little Miss Hazel in NICU again today. She's doing fantastic, and they pulled the IV last night. So now she's on all oral feeds, including two successful breast-feeds with mom yesterday and today. Tomorrow all her food restrictions will be removed, so the nurses will let her eat as much as she wants (which seems to be always more than they've been giving her the last couple days).

Her biggest problem is simply size. She's a tiny little girl, which makes it tough to maintain body temperature. So she's still in an incubator, and she has to stay warm at room temperature for 24 hours before she heads home. But with the increased eating, we expect that to be this weekend, possibly as early as Saturday. Then we'll be all together, which is quite exciting and a bit nerve-wracking at the same time.

Here she is snoozing in Erin's arms before being woken to eat yesterday. The big thing on her left arm is to stabilize the IV, which is now gone.

Our boy Charlie sleeping peacefully on the floor at home. This is, of course, after Jonathan went to bed. The floor isn't quite safe yet when big brother's around.
