Meet Yoho and Banff!

David and I have been calling the twins Yoho and Banff for the two Canadian National Parks that we visited on our honeymoon. We stole the idea from our friend Elizabeth who named her lovely daughter Wimberley after the small Texas town where she and her husband stayed in a bed&breakfast. Our place names were only appropriate for the unborn, however.

This 3D ultrasound picture was taken last week. In case you can't quite figure it out, they're both laying on their backs, facing the top of the screen, with heads to the left and legs to the right. I believe, but can't be sure, that Yoho is on top, and Banff is on bottom. The radiologist didn't label this picture, though, so I'm working off of memory.

The ultrasound also showed that Yoho is a boy and Banff is a girl! We're very excited about having one of each!

Now for the twin FAQ:
  • When are you due? My 40 weeks due date is July 9th. They'll likely run out of room before then, though, so I am planning toward mid to late June.
  • Have you thought of names? We're working on it, but will probably not open it up for public discussion on the blog. Sorry, folks.
  • Will they share a room? Yes--the room that is currently our office. It's the largest of the secondary bedrooms. The big room switch-a-roo happens in March, according to David's master calendar of events between now and June. Brilliant ideas for a gender neutral nursery are welcome!
  • What will happen with Jono when the twins are born? Nothing, we hope. I'll post separately updating you on Jono's foster status, but our hope is that he will still be with us, and just be a (very young) big brother. We will certainly need lots of help in the beginning, so you Sugar Landers that are reading--take note!

Any other questions? Feel free to post a comment or send an email and we'll try to get them answered!

What a sassy girl you are, having one of each! Good job! You bring that boy over to play once you get too far along to bend over and pick up his toys. :)

Ooohhhh, I can't figure them out.... this 3D ultrasound is incredible... now if I could just figure out what I'm looking at. Can I see any facial features that I might recognize? Heads to the left, legs to the right.. What I think are the babies is exactly the opposite. Ugh. I must be too old for new fangled technology. :) At any rate, they are definitely the most adorable twins ever!!

Here are some more hints, Mom. On the top one, You can see a profile, with his chin tucked. Nose, mouth and chin are visible. I first always notice the fairly prominent check bone, though. He still looks pretty alien and skeletal.

Bottom baby has her face turned away from the screen. Same body shot as the top one, but the back of her head.

Does that help?

Oh Oh Oh.... now I can see them! The light bulb has come on. Now, if only the Cowboys had had a light bulb moment tonight...

Thanks for the landmarks. And they are just adorable! And orderly. Both facing the same direction for their picture. lol
