a funny little ritual

Every night, Jono gets out of the bath and comes to me for lotion and pjs while the babies play in the tub a little longer. We have a funny little ritual that I thought I'd share. I rock him in the rocking chair while he's cuddled in his towel and sing "Rock-a-bye Baby" (cliche, I know). At some point I sang the last line as "...and down will come Jono, cradle and all" so he decided that this song must be somewhat akin to Old MacDonald and started making requests about who would come down, cradle and all, at the end of the verse. The request the last few nights has been the same, and given his interests, is not surprising. It does make me sound rather foolish, however. The verse has been:

Rock-a-bye baby, in the tree top
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall
And down comes the baby elephant, cradle and all.

I love this story. This is baby book worthy. I'll bet Jono would like Horton Hears a Who. Does he have that book?

We don't have Horton yet. I bet he would like it!

I like to sing that one to Sachi while rocking her dramatically in my arms, then throw her on the couch at the end. "Again!" she says.
